The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing for those who are experiencing serious illness in any way, whether that be physical, emotional, or spiritual. It is often administered to the aged as well.

Because hospitals and health facilities need to pay strict attention to their patients’ privacy, priests will not know when someone is hospitalized unless family members or friends make the need for a visit known.
